The Eyes Have It :- by Ruskin Bond

Q:- Irony of the story./Comment on the ending./Comment on the sudden change at the very end./"She was completely blind."- explain.

Ans:- Irony is the opposite of reality. The author used this figure of speech in his very romantic short story "The Eyes Have It."

The narrator, at the beginning of the story, said that he was completely blind at that time. In the train compartment he came across with a girl co-passenger and talked to her normally.

Throughout the story, he was trying to hide his blindness from the girl. But at the end, he suddenly came to know from a male co-passenger that the girl was also totally blind.

From the very beginning to the end, the story is full of irony. The parents of the girl forbade her to speak with any stranger but she talked normally with the narrator. The narrator was trying to hide his blindness from the girl, but at the end he came to know that the girl was blind. Besides all these, the title of the story is ironical as the narrator was totally blind. So we gave to see everything and the beauty of Mussorrie through the blind eyes of the narrator.
