Ans:- Among the all characters of the
story "Three Questions" by Leo Tolstoy, the bearded and wounded man
is also an important one. While the Tsar was asking the hermit about his three
questions, they noticed that a bearded man was coming from the forest towards
them running. His stomach was wounded and blood was flowing from the wound. He
had been wounded by the bodyguards of the Tsar. He was an enemy of the Tsar, because
the Tsar killed his brother and seized his property. He looked upon the Tsar as
his worst enemy as well as he was awaiting in the woods to kill him when he
would return. But the Tsar's men recognized and wounded him.
The Tsar and the hermit started to treate the bearded wounded man. At
first they unfastened the wounded man's clothings. He became senseless, reaching
there. They understood that his life was in danger. To revive him, the Tsar
washed the wound on stomach and bandaged it with his handkerchief and the hermit's
towel. But the blood didn't stop flowing. So they washed as well as rebandaged
it again. Finally the blood stopped to flow. At first the Tsar didn't know his
real identity, but he knew all from him. When he felt better, he wanted some
water to drink. The Tsar gave him water. After that he came to know all. To him
the Tsar became the savior. He offered him friendship. The Tsar was very glad
and ready to do the right. Thus the Tsar made peace with his enemy.
